Join Us at the Rally for Economic Survival!

AHBA has joined the fight to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling! Do not be fooled: the federal moratorium on offshore drilling WILL affect YOU! Send a message to Washington to save our economy. Attend the Rally for Economic Survival scheduled for July 21, 2010 at the Lafayette Cajundome from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The Rally for Economic Survival will give a united voice to Louisiana citizens impacted by the federal moratorium on deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Together we will send a message to the Obama administration to lift the moratorium for Louisiana's jobs and America's energy future. The rally will consist of speakers covering a broad section of those affected by the moratorium including Lt. Governor Scott Angelle. There will be entertainment and a video booth for you to send a personal message to the administration.

THE FACTS

  • Thirty-three percent of the domestic oil and gas production comes from the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • In one act, the Obama administration has signed the pink slips of tens of thousands of Louisiana and Gulf Coast citizens.
  • The financial consequences from the moratorium will eventually create an economic ripple effect that will negatively impact every citizen of the United States.
  • Consumers will bear the brunt of the federal drilling moratorium paying more everywhere from the pump to the grocery store.
Home for the Holidays 2010 Underway

Construction has begun on the 2010 Home for the Holidays project. Each year, the Acadian Home Builders Association builds a high-end dream home and raffles it off for charity. Now in its sixth year, the project has donated $625,000 to local Acadiana non-profit shelter organizations. Benefitting charities include Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Faith House, Acadiana Youth Inc., and St. Michael Center for Veterans.

AHBA needs your help! A project of this size would not be possible without the participation of many local companies. If you are interested in donating labor or materials to the 2010 Home for the Holidays, contact the AHBA office at (337) 981-3053.
