Founded in 1955, the Women's Council is a national organization affiliated with the National Association of
Home Builders (NAHB), consisting of a network of local and state councils and individuals (at-large) members. The NAHB Women's Council is based at NAHB's Washington, D.C. headquarters and works in partnership with the local and state Women's Councils and homebuilder associations affiliated with NAHB.
The Acadian Home Builders Women's Council was organized September 7, 1965 and chartered December 8, 1965 as a nonprofit, tax exempt organization, supported by its membership and governed by its elected officers and board of directors. The officers and board members contribute their services without remuneration of any kind.
The Council was organized and designed with its first and primary objective being to assist the Acadian Home Builders Association to promote good will, loyalty and friendship among its members and familiarize themselves with the home building industry.
Where the housing industry is concerned, the individual member, as well as the association, should be involved in its community, political and education affairs, doing its part to improve areas where need for improvement is indicated.
