AHBA Professional Women in Building

Background
Founded in 1955, the Professional Women in Building is a national organization affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) consisting of a network of local and state councils and individual members. The NAHB Professional Women in Building is based at NAHB's Washington, D.C. headquarters and works in partnership with the local and state councils and homebuilder associations affiliated with NAHB.

The Acadian Home Builders Association Professional Women in Building was organized September 7, 1965 and chartered December 8, 1965 as a nonprofit, tax exempt organization, supported by its membership and governed by its elected officers and board of directors. The officers and board members contribute their services without remuneration of any kind.

The Professional Women in Building was organized and designed with its first and primary objective being to assist the Acadian Home Builders Association to promote good will, loyalty and friendship among its members and familiarize themselves with the home building industry.

Where the housing industry is concerned, the individual member, as well as the association, should be involved in its community, political and education affairs, doing its part to improve areas where need for improvement is indicated.

Member Protocol
A good Professional Women in Building member will understand the policy and purpose of her organization, attend all meetings and arrive on time, pay her dues promptly, and is appreciative of the large return on her investment.

A good Professional Women in Building member is loyal to the officers, supportive of all projects, aware of the by-laws and complies with them, and studies correct parlimentary procedure.

A good Professional Women in Building member always contributes her talents to her organization through service on committees and active participation in the work. She accepts office when qualified to do so. She expresses her opinion during the meeting and not after the decision has been made. She accepts and upholds the majority opinion and always respects the rights and opinion of the minority.

A good Professional Women in Building member appreciates the importance of her organization.
