About AHBA

Building Trust
Acadian Home Builders Association (AHBA) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade organization founded in 1960 by a group of visionary builders who saw the need to form an organization dedicated to advancing the homebuilding industry. Over the years, AHBA has grown to become an influential association in Acadiana representing over 800 members and four parishes: Lafayette, Acadia, St. Martin, & Vermillion. The AHBA includes builders as well as associate members whose industries support homebuilding such as real estate companies, mortgage lenders, and subcontractors.

The Acadian Home Builders Association is a chapter of the Louisiana Home Builders Association (LHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and all members belong to all three organizations. AHBA strives to make Acadiana a better place to live and has strict membership qualifications and a Code of Ethics by which all members must abide.

HomeBuilders SIF

Builders and contractors have unique needs when it comes to their workers' compensation coverage. The HomeBuilders Self-Insurers Fund understands this. The fund began in response to the turmoil of the commercial insurance marketplace back in the late 70's. Insurance carriers were exiting Louisiana, and builders and contractors were faced with rising insurance costs, poor service and mounting problems. The answer was the HomeBuilders Self-Insurers Fund (HomeBuilders SIF), a workers’ compensation program built specifically for the construction industry.
