It is certainly the American dream to build your own home, but to literally do it yourself is not as easy as it sounds. There is a mistaken idea that to hire a professional contractor to build your home will add an outrageous, inflated figure to the cost. Home for the Holidays 2010 Underway

Construction has begun on the 2010 Home for the Holidays project. Each year, the Acadian Home Builders Association builds a high-end dream home and raffles it off for charity. Now in its sixth year, the project has donated $625,000 to local Acadiana non-profit shelter organizations. Benefitting charities include Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Faith House, Acadiana Youth Inc., and St. Michael Center for Veterans.
