Builder members are individuals having a residential or commercial building license from the Louisiana State Licensing Board for contractors. If you have a license, you must apply as a builder member.  Developers are also considered builder members even though they may not have a license.

Associate members are those in fields which support the building industry such as painters, electricians, real estate agents, mortgage lenders, etc. If someone in a company already has an AHBA membership, another employee of the same company may join as an Affiliate member and will receive all of the same benefits as Associate members.

Annual dues include membership in the Acadian Home Builders Association (AHBA), the Louisiana Home Builders Association (LHBA), and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) plus a voluntary contribution of $10 each to the local and state Political Action Committees.

HomeBuilders SIF

Builders and contractors have unique needs when it comes to their workers' compensation coverage. The HomeBuilders Self-Insurers Fund understands this. The fund began in response to the turmoil of the commercial insurance marketplace back in the late 70's. Insurance carriers were exiting Louisiana, and builders and contractors were faced with rising insurance costs, poor service and mounting problems. The answer was the HomeBuilders Self-Insurers Fund (HomeBuilders SIF), a workers’ compensation program built specifically for the construction industry.
