Do Business with an AHBA Member

Support your fellow members by choosing to do business with them.  Acadian Home Builders Association members are those professionals who have chosen to be part of a team whose focus is, and always has been, the betterment of the residential construction industry.  By conducting business with fellow members, you are helping us to further establish the credibility of our association within the industry.

Builder Credibility
All AHBA builder members are licensed by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors and as such, have passed a test certifying that they are knowledgeable about all the elements of building a home. Furthermore, each year a builder must earn six hours of continuing education credit to maintain their license. They do so by attending classes on building issues and techniques which are offered to them by AHBA and other Louisiana home builder associations.

Professional Associates
Associate members are those who do not have a builder's license but work in an industry which supports homebuilding such as electricians, painters, real estate brokers, mortgage lenders, and others. Many of AHBA's associate members are also members of the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana, the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, the REALTOR® Association of Acadiana, or the Acadiana Mortgage Lenders Association.

Home for the Holidays 2010 Underway

Construction has begun on the 2010 Home for the Holidays project. Each year, the Acadian Home Builders Association builds a high-end dream home and raffles it off for charity. Now in its sixth year, the project has donated $625,000 to local Acadiana non-profit shelter organizations. Benefitting charities include Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Faith House, Acadiana Youth Inc., and St. Michael Center for Veterans.

AHBA needs your help! A project of this size would not be possible without the participation of many local companies. If you are interested in donating labor or materials to the 2010 Home for the Holidays, contact the AHBA office at (337) 981-3053.
