Homebuilding Industry Issues

The Voice of the Housing Industry
One of the functions of the Acadian Home Builders Association is to be the voice of its members when it comes to important legislative issues. AHBA monitors the interests of your business and the homebuilding industry by supporting all pro-housing legislation on the local, state, and national level. The association is your political watch dog and advocate. In addition to these efforts, the Louisiana Home Builders Association and National Association of Home Builders work closely together lobbying Baton Rouge and Washington, D.C. lawmakers to ensure they have your best interests at heart. To see some battles these organizations are currently fighting, click Legislative Alerts on the menu to the left.

Home for the Holidays 2010 Underway

Construction has begun on the 2010 Home for the Holidays project. Each year, the Acadian Home Builders Association builds a high-end dream home and raffles it off for charity. Now in its sixth year, the project has donated $625,000 to local Acadiana non-profit shelter organizations. Benefitting charities include Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Faith House, Acadiana Youth Inc., and St. Michael Center for Veterans.

AHBA needs your help! A project of this size would not be possible without the participation of many local companies. If you are interested in donating labor or materials to the 2010 Home for the Holidays, contact the AHBA office at (337) 981-3053.
